Overview
Active-Fitness.sk is a one-page website for a local gym. I owned this project end-to-end, from design direction to implementation and launch. The goal was to create a modern, fast, and conversion-oriented website that clearly explains membership, shows the space, and drives inquiries.
What I Built
- Designed the page structure and UI direction myself.
- Built a full one-page experience in Astro.js with reusable components.
- Implemented a gallery viewer/lightbox so visitors can explore the gym space.
- Added a video showcase section for richer visual presentation.
- Embedded an interactive map to make location and navigation easier.
- Added event-ready analytics hooks and Google Analytics integration.
Growth and Distribution Work
- Created and set up the Facebook page.
- Created and set up the Instagram page.
- Registered the website in Google Search Console (GSC) for indexing and search visibility tracking.
Technical Highlights
- Performance-first architecture with Astro.js and minimal client-side JavaScript.
- React islands used only where interactivity was needed.
- Responsive, mobile-first UI using Tailwind CSS.
- Semantic markup and clear section hierarchy for UX and maintainability.
- Deployed to Vercel for fast delivery.
Personal Note
I really liked this project because I designed it myself and then shipped it exactly as intended. Astro.js was a breeze to work with, and the first production pass hit 99 Performance, 92 Accessibility, 100 SEO, and 77 Best Practices on PageSpeed Insights — 0.3s FCP, 0.9s LCP. That's rare to get on the first shot.
